EPISODE TWELVE:  "BBQ"

On a warm Friday afternoon in Mt. Vernon Square, Kyle is standing on the stoop to a rowhouse just off of the square.  He smiles as a car pulls up and after parking on the street, Bret pulls himself from the driver's seat.  "Hey there.  I thought you got lost or something," Kyle tells Bret as he walks up to the stoop and extends his hand as a greeting.

"Well you know me, Kyle.  These one way streets in Baltimore could have me going in circles for hours," Bret responds.  The two laugh and then Kyle invites Bret to take a look at the apartment.  They walk inside and Bret is impressed.  "I'm in love with it already, Kyle."

Kyle smiles and continues walking to the end of the hall.  He turns to the right and unlocks the door.  As he opens the door for Bret, he exposes a tall spiraled staircase leading to the second floor.  Bret is amazed and starts his ascent up the steps.  At the top of the stairs is another long hallway.  Bret looks to the left and can see it leads to the large living room.  He looks to the right and see another staircase.  "Is that a back way to get to the third floor apartment, Kyle," Bret asks.

Kyle laughs.  "Nope, your two bedrooms and bathroom are up there.  This particular apartment is two floors.  I'm willing to charge you the one bedroom rate, though, if you like it and decide to take it."  Bret walks into the living room and over to the bow window that overlooks the fountain in the park below.  "Like it?  I love this place, Kyle.  Can I move in tomorrow?"  Bret asks.

"You can move in now if you want, Bret.  This is one of my personal favorites too.  Brooke and I would have moved into this one had it not been for the third bedroom in our place.  She likes to have a home office and a guest room," Kyle explains.  Kyle pulls papers from his back pocket and walks over to the window where Bret is standing.  He places the papers on the ledge of the window with a pen.  "I just need your signature signing your soul over to me, please," Kyle jokes.  Without hesitation, Bret signs the lease and hands the pen back to Kyle.  "Oh, and there's just one other thing."  Bret looks at Kyle with concern.  "As a resident of the Square and a dear friend, you have to be at our annual Memorial Day barbeque tomorrow afternoon."  Bret accepts the invitation with a laugh.

In Bolton Hill, Holly climbs out of her upstairs bedroom window and onto the fire escape.  She climbs the fire escape's ladder to the roof.  She walks across the roof to the middle and looks up to eye the location of the sun.  She reaches down and maneuvers the chair she so that it is in line with the sun.  Holly then takes off her robe and lays in the chair.  As she settles down and closes her eyes, she feels her left wrist with her right hand.  "Shoot.  I forgot to take off my watch."  Holly loosens the clasp and lays the watch on the ground.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Back in Mt. Vernon Square, at Catrina's place, Catrina is preparing lunch in the kitchen.  Scott walks into the room and walks over behind her, puts his arms around her, and starts kissing her neck.  "Scott, what are you doing?"  She starts to laugh.  "You need to shave that stubble off of your face," she continues.  Scott laughs and then walks over to the refrigerator.

"So, I can't reach Valerie by phone to tell her that I'm not leaving Baltimore after all.  I guess I can just tell her about her job tomorrow at Brooke and Kyle's barbeque," he explains to Catrina.  Catrina stops what she's doing and turns to Scott.  "She won't be there, Scott."  Scott looks up at her.  "There was a big to do at the Brew one night and..."

Alex, at the other end of the bar serving customers, finally notices Holly and Paul and darts over to where they are standing.  "I think it would be a good idea if the two of you left," Alex requests of Holly and Paul.  Paul just looks at Holly while Holly stares at Alex in shock.  "What do you mean, Alex?  We just got here," she replies.  Alex picks up the coasters that the new bartender had laid on the bar for them and returns them to the pile in front of him.  "I said I think you should go.  It's probably best if the two of you find another place to hang out," Alex insists.

As Holly, Paul, and the new bartender stare at Alex in surprise, Valerie walks through the front door.  Alex notices her and then turns back to Paul.  "Paul, please take Holly out of here.  Get her out of here now."  As Paul turns to Holly to suggest just leaving, Holly pushes by him and walks over to Valerie.

"You bitch!  You told him I did this, didn't you?  DIDN'T YOU!!??  ANSWER ME, VALERIE!  ANSWER ME NOW!" Holly demands.  Alex makes his way around the bar and over to the two women.  At the end of the bar, Jamie and Paul are watching the argument.  "What in the hell is going on here?" Paul asks under his breath.  A drunken Jamie snickers, catching Paul's attention.  "Are you blind, Paul?" Jamie responds.  "Alex is in love with Holly and it's driving Valerie crazy."  Paul looks down at Jamie and then over at Alex, Holly, and Paul.  "What?" he asks out loud.

"The only thing I told Alex was the truth, Holly," Valerie tells her.  "I told him about how you attacked me today and told me that I needed to get out of his life or I'd be sorry."  Holly laughs out loud.  She runs her hand through the back of her head and uncovers the small bald spot where her hair fell out in the shower.  "Yeah, I attacked you Valerie.  And then why am I the one with a clump of my hair missing," Holly asks.  Bret walks into the front door.

Holly gets up in Valerie's face.  "Why, Valerie?  TELL ME WHY," Holly demands.  Valerie's eyes well up and she fights back her tears.  "You see, Valerie.  When you attacked me today in the bathroom at school, I remembered what happened in the bathroom here that night when I was really drunk," Holly tells Valerie.  Valerie fails to hold her tears back any longer and starts to cry.  "Remember, Valerie.  Remember when you pushed me down and I hit my head," Holly continues.  Valerie looks over at Alex, who is staring at her in anger.

"Why, Valerie?" Alex asks.  Valerie reaches out to Alex, but he pulls away from her.  She turns back to Holly.  "I love Alex more than you could ever know, Holly.  But he loves you.  And no matter how hard I try, I can't compete with that and I can't change that," Valerie tells her in tears.  Holly looks over at Alex who is starting to cry himself.  "Get out Valerie.  Get out of here before I do something to you that I'm going to regret," Alex demands.

Alex just stares at her as the tears roll down his cheeks.  "No.  No.  I don't believe this," Valerie says as she starts to cry harder.  "This isn't supposed to happen.  Holly's supposed to leave.  I'm supposed to stay with you, Alex.  I'm supposed to stay with you."  Alex grabs Valerie's arms and pushes her toward the door.  "I said get out.  Get out of this bar and get out of my life.  I never want to see you again, Valerie," Alex tells her.  Alex, Holly, Bret, Paul, Jamie, and the bartender watch as Valerie turns and walks toward the door.

"Valerie," Holly calls out to her.  Valerie turns around and Holly walks over to her.  As Holly approaches Valerie, Holly reaches out and slaps her across the face.  "Go to hell!" Holly tells her.  Valerie reaches up and rubs her cheek where Holly smacked her.  She looks over at Alex, as if he should defend her.  She turns and runs out of The Brew, knocking into Bret on her way to the door.

Holly turns back and looks at Paul and then at Alex.  Alex looks at Holly and then walks around her and heads upstairs.  Holly looks over at Paul in disbelief of what has just happened.  Bret walks over to Jamie and pulls her off the bar stool.  "I need to get her home," Bret tells Paul.  "Are you two okay?"  Paul just looks at Bret and then looks over at Holly.  Paul heads toward the front door, passing Holly without even saying a word.  "Paul," she cries out as he exits through the front door.

"Wow.  I had no idea," Scott tells Catrina, the both of them now sitting at the table eating lunch.  "Valerie, even as recent as the beginning of the week, was talking about what she and Alex did the night before and stuff like that.  She spoke as if nothing was even wrong with their relationship."

Catrina looks at Scott.  "I always said that girl was a fruitcake," she tells him, taking a bite of her food.  "I just hope for Alex's sake she does stay far away from him."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

At The Brew, Alex is in the office preparing to open for the day.  Kristine walks into the office.  "Hey boss, what's going on?"  Alex looks up at her.  "Oh, hey there Kristine.  Ready for our busiest weekend of the year?" he asks her.  "Sure am, Alex.  The bar is ready too.  I overstocked the coolers and changed all of the taps, just as you asked sir," she tells him.  "But there is one thing."

"What is that, Kristine?" Alex asks her.  "Well," she begins, "Kyle hired Jason when we didn't need another bartender and now I'm sharing my shifts with him.  It really cuts on the amount of tips I make, Alex."  Alex pulls a piece of paper from the left side of the desk and reads over it.  "Hmmm, I didn't know that he hired someone else," Alex says aloud.  "Well, Kristine, if this guy was told he could work this weekend, there isn't much I can do about it.  I'll talk to Kyle and see what kind of scheduling arrangement we can come up with starting next week."

Kristine leans over the desk and kisses Alex on the forehead.  "Thanks so much."  She turns to leave the office and then stops and turns around to Alex.  "Oh, and I never got to thank you for being a perfect gentleman the other night at my place.  It's been so long since someone just held me all night."  Kristine turns and leaves the office as Alex smiles in relief that nothing happened between the two of them.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

At the grocery store, just north of Mt. Vernon in Charles Village, Brooke is stocking up on supplies for the next day's barbeque.  As she zig zags through the store down every aisle, she runs into Paul.  "Well hey there, stranger," she greets.  "I haven't seen you around for over a week.  How are you?"

Paul smiles and greets Brooke with a kiss on the cheek.  "I had to go to Berkley at the beginning of the week to finalize everything for the Fall semester.  I just flew into town last night," he responds.  "Are you coming to our annual barbeque tomorrow," Brooke asks.  Paul looks at the cart full of barbeque supplies and then looks up at Brooke.  "I wouldn't miss it for the world, Brooke."  The two smile at one another.  "Well, I'm going to run and you probably have a lot to do so I'll see you tomorrow at about 1pm."  Brooke agrees.  "Sounds great, Paul.  Don't forget it's also the grand opening of the Brew's rooftop terrace."  The two say their good-byes and Paul walks away.  Brooke continues shopping.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

In Butchers Hill, Bret is in the living room packing boxes when Jamie walks into the apartment.  He stands up and greets her with a kiss.  "How was your day, sweets," he asks her.  Jamie throws her purse in the chair, plops down onto the sofa, and sighs very loudly.  "Lousy.  It was just absolutely lousy."  Bret sits next to her and puts his arm around her.  "You know, Bret, I'm so tired of being turned down for jobs."  Bret kisses her on the forehead as she closes her eyes and rests her head on his chest.  "I wish you didn't have to move, Bret."  Bret looks around at the boxes and looks down at a resting Jamie.  "Me too, baby, me too."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Later that evening, in Bolton Hill, Holly is getting ready to go to The Brew for the evening.  As she stands in the bathroom in front of the mirror, she glances several times at the window across the bedroom until finally turning to the window and just staring.  She walks over to the window and looks out of it.  She doesn't see anything.  She closes the window and the window blinds and walks back into the bathroom.

Outside of the window, on the fire escape, Valerie sighs in relief that Holly didn't see her.  "If she would have caught me here, it would have all been over for me," Valerie says aloud.  A few minutes later, she hears the front door to Holly's house slam shut.  Valerie scurries down the fire escape and into the alley.  She jumps in her car at the end of the alley and sits and waits.  When she sees Holly's car turn the corner, she ducks.  Once Holly passes her, she starts her car and turns it around and starts following her.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Meanwhile, at The Brew.  Ashley is sitting at the bar talking to Brooke and Alex.  Jason and Kristine are serving behind the bar.  "So the new office space is wonderful.  And with access to the MARC train, my clients commuting from Washington DC and the suburbs have incredible access to my office," Ashley is explaining.  She looks across the bar at Jason.  "And so tell me about this little hottie I see behind the bar."

Alex and Brooke smile.  "You'll have to ask Kyle.  Today is the first time I've met him," Alex explains.  "It seems he came in looking for a job and Kyle hired him on the spot."  Alex watches Jason.  "He seems to be doing quite well too.  Look at his tip jar--it's already full," Brooke adds.  "I'd like to give him a tip or two," Ashley says, sucking the last of her cocktail and then calling for Jason.

Kristine walks over to Ashley.  "Would you like another?"  Ashley looks at Kristine and then down the bar at Jason.  "He's got it, sweetie, thanks."  Kristine turns around and notices how empty her tip jar is in comparison to Jason's.  She turns back to Alex and asks, "Do you mind if I take a few minutes, boss?  It seems Jason has everything under control here."  Alex agrees and Kristine exits behind the bar.  She heads to the bar door of The Brew.  "Someone's a little jealous of all of the attention the fresh meat is getting," Ashley jokes.  Alex agrees.  "I'd better make sure she is okay.  I'll be back."  Alex excuses himself from the two of them as Jason approaches them.

"Well hello there ladies, what can I get for you this evening?" Jason asks.  Ashley quickly responds, "You. You.  And you--on the rocks."  Jason smiles and Brooke laughs.  "And how about to drink?"  They give Jason their drink orders.  A few minutes later, Jason brings them their cocktails.  "So, how about it..." Ashley asks, fishing for his name.  "It's Jason, and you're not really my type."  Ashley continues, "and what is your type, Jason?"

As Ashley questions him, Kyle walks up to the bar.  "I hope you're not charging these fine women for their cocktails, Jason."  Jason looks at Kyle in question.  "Meet Mrs. Fletcher, but you can call her Brooke,," Kyle tells Jason as he kisses Brooke hello.  "And this is Ashley.  Whom I am certain has already introduced herself to you--if I know her well enough anyway."  Ashley, Brooke, and Kyle laugh as Jason stares in surprise.  "I'd better get back to work.  It was great meeting the two of you."  Jason walks away, often glancing back at the three of them as he serves the other patrons.

Behind The Brew in the alley, Kristine is sitting on the back steps with her face in her hands.  Alex opens the door and walks out of the bar, sitting on the stoop beside Kristine.  "You okay?"  he asks her.  Kristine is quiet for a few minutes and then responds, "I'll be okay.  It's just that Jason is making a killing in tips and I was really banking on having the money for myself.  I guess I shouldn't have assumed anything."

Alex puts his arm around her.  "I'm sorry, Kristine.  I had no idea about this.  Kyle didn't say a word or would I have discussed it with you first."  Kristine looks over at Alex and then draws her attention up the alley.  "I'm just in a really bad situation right now, Alex."  Alex stands up and walks in front of Kristine.  He kneels down in front of her and grabs her hands.  "If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know."  He stands up after she thanks him.  "Take as long as you need out here, but I should get back into the bar."  Kristine smiles as Alex walks in the door.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Holly pulls into the parking lot across the street from The Brew.  She doesn't notice Valerie pulling in across the lot.  Valerie watches as Holly pays the parking attendant and heads across the street to The Brew.  Valerie drives away as the parking attendant approaches her car to collect the parking fee.  She almost runs the man down as she speeds out of the parking lot.

Several minutes later, Valerie arrives in Bolton Hill at Holly's house.  She parks her car at the corner and walks down the alley.  She looks at the house.  All of the windows are dark.  "I'll just wait here until Holly gets home."  Valerie climbs onto the fire escape and sits down between the windows to wait for Holly to come home.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Back at The Brew, Ashley, Holly, Alex, Kyle, and Brooke are sitting at the bar drinking.  Catrina and Scott enter the bar and walk over to the group.  Brooke gets up and greets Catrina and Scott with a hug.  Ashley looks at Holly.  "What time is it, Holl?"  Holly looks at her wrist.  "Shoot.  I must have left my watch on my roof today when I was sunbathing."  Kyle looks at his watch and gives Ashley the time.  "I'd better get going then," Ashley tells the group.

"Ashley, can I talk with you for a moment," Catrina asks when Ashley announces she is leaving.  Ashley agrees and the girls walk away from the bar to have a little more privacy.  "I wonder what that is all about, " Brooke says.  Scott smiles and responds, "don't worry, Brooke.  I think it's all good."

"Ashley, I don't want you to pretend you have to be someplace just because Scott and I are here," Catrina begins.  "I know what you did, Ashley.  You knew I wouldn't make that train so you called Scott on his cell phone to tell him I was coming to stop him from leaving.  You saved my relationship with the man I love."  "Catrina, I--" Ashley begins.  Catrina quickly interrupts.  "No, Ashley.  Let me finish.  I know we've a really rocky past.  I just wanted to let you know that I'm willing to bury the hatchet if you are and move forward.  I owe you a lot, Ashley.  I owe you everything."  Ashley smiles as a tear falls from Catrina's eyes.  Ashley reaches out and hugs Catrina.  "I'm just glad the two of you are happy, Catrina.  I'm just glad that you're happy."

Catrina and Ashley rejoin the rest of the group as Jason watches them all from the other side of the bar.  Kyle notices Jason staring and just watches Jason trying to pretend he's not looking.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The next day, on the rooftop terrace of The Brew, Kyle, Brooke, and Alex are setting up tables and a grill.  "I think that should just about do it," Kyle says as he empties one more box of beer into the cooler.  "I'm going to run downstairs and make sure the kitchen doesn't need any help," Brooke says as she walks toward the newly built stairs leading to the deck behind the bar.

As Kyle and Alex look around the roof and at the view of the city, Alex turns to him.  "Why didn't you consult me about hiring Jason?"  Kyle looks at Alex in surprise that he was asking about it.  "I really didn't think anything of it, Al.  I didn't think it would matter."  Alex walks over to the cooler and picks out of a beer.  He opens it and then turns to Kyle.  "We didn't need another bartender, Kyle.  Now Kristine isn't pulling the money she was pulling before."

Alex takes a big drink of the beer.  "Well, I'm sorry for Kristine, Alex, but we never guaranteed her a certain amount in tips.  Jason pulls in a crowd.  We've been busier this past week than ever before.  Kristine is just going to have to deal with it," Kyle tells him.  "That's not cool, Kyle.  We're business partners.  Partners.  Do you know what that means?  You can't keep making business decisions without consulting me about them first," Alex responds.  "We're giving Kristine first choice at scheduling starting next week."  Alex finishes the beer and throws it into the garbage can and starts to walk toward the steps leading to the back deck.

Halfway up the steps to the roof, Kristine is crouched, listening to the argument between Alex and Kyle.  She quickly turns and runs down the steps and back into the third floor rear entrance to The Brew.  Once inside she leans against the wall and smiles.  As Alex walks into the hallway from outside, he startles Kristine.  "Oh.  Sorry Kristine.  I didn't mean to scare you," he tells her as she places her palm against her chest.  "Oh, it's okay, boss.  I was just coming to see if you needed any help."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

About an hour later, in Bolton Hill, Holly opens her bedroom window.  She climbs out onto the fire escape and starts to climb the ladder to the roof. The shaking on the fire escape wakes up Valerie, who fell asleep on the fire escape while waiting for Holly to come home the night before.  Valerie notices Holly climbing onto the roof and quickly gets up and starts climbing up the fire escape.

Once to the top, Valerie peeks over the edge of the roof to see Holly walking toward the lounge chair.  Valerie pulls herself up the ladder and onto the rooftop as Holly reaches down and picks up her watch.  Holly wraps the watch around her wrist and then turns to head back down the fire escape.  Valerie is standing there staring at her and Holly is startled.  "What in the hell are you doing her, Valerie?" she insists.  "I just thought it was time you and I had a little heart to heart Holly.  That's why I'm here," Valerie responds.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Meanwhile, back at The Brew.  Brooke, Kyle, Alex, Kristine, Jason, Bret, Jamie, Catrina, Scott, and Ashley are drinking and talking on The Brew's new rooftop terrace.  There is music playing and food grilling on the barbeque.  Everyone is festive and having a great time.  Brooke's cell phone rings and she excuses herself from the conversation with Jamie and Catrina.

"Hello?"  she answers.  "Brooke, it's Paul.  Is Holly at the part yet?"  Brooke looks around at the guests.  "No, Paul, she's not."  Paul thanks Brooke.  "Okay, I'm going to swing by her place to see if she needs a lift.  I'll see you soon."  Brooke ends the call and returns to her conversation with Jamie and Catrina.

Across the roof, Kyle is at the cooler of beer when Jason walks over to him.  "Hey Kyle.  I appreciate you inviting me to this get together.  Your friends are great," Jason tells him.  Kyle puts his arm on Jason's shoulder.  "Not a problem, Jason.  I should actually be thanking you.  I don't know what you've done but business is up on every shift you've worked so far."  Jason smiles with embarrassment.  "So, I know idea  you were married until I met Brooke the other night," Jason continues.  Kyle smiles.  "Yeah.  She's great.  We haven't been married too long but we've been dating for years.  I met her in college.  How about you--anyone in your life?"

"Not right now, although there is someone I'm interested in.  I'm just not too certain how they feel about me.  Sometime I get mixed signals," Jason answers.  Kyle nods at Jason to acknowledge that he's listening.  "Well, I'd better mingle some more, Jason."  Jason watches as Kyle walks over to Bret and Ashley.  He glances over and notices that Kristine is staring at him.  She walks over to him and stands next to him and watches as he stares at Kyle.  "You know, Jason.  He isn't a little faggot like you so you can just forget about it.  In fact, you can forget about working at The Brew much longer because I'm going to be certain you're not."  Jason looks down at Kristine and she walks over to Alex, glancing back at him and he watches her.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

In Bolton Hill, on the roof of Holly's house, Holly is standing and staring at Valerie, who is still at the ladder leading to the fire escape.  "Valerie, you need to get out of here.  I have nothing to say to you," Holly demands.  Valerie laughs.  "Good, because I have plenty I want to say to you.  We can start off by talking about how you ruined my relationship with Alex.  Then we can talk about how you humiliated me in front of all of my friends at The Brew.  And then  as soon as you thought I was out of the picture, you stole Alex from me."

Valerie laughs out loud.  "You're nuts, Valerie."  Holly walks over to the ladder and Valerie pushes her back, causing Holly to fall to the ground.  "You're not going anywhere until I've made myself perfectly clear, Holly."  Valerie kicks Holly, who is still laying on the roof, in the stomach.  "That's for calling me a bitch."  Valerie kicks her even harder in the back.  "That's for smacking me across the face."  Holly starts to cry in pain, "Valerie.  I didn't mean to do any of those things to you.  Just stop.  Please stop."

Valerie walks around Holly as she sits up.  "Keep begging, Holly.  It's not going to help you, but I do enjoy watching it."  Valerie kicks Holly in the face, knocking her down again.  Valerie walks away from Holly as Holly holds her jaw, with a trickle of blood coming from her mouth.  "Please, Valerie.  Stop this.  If you leave now, I won't tell anyone you were here.  I won't tell anyone.  Just please stop this."  Valerie looks back at Holly, who is trying to get up now.

On the street out front of Holly's house, Paul parks his car in front of the house.  He sees that Holly's car is still there and runs over and knocks on her door.  Valerie looks over the edge and sees Paul standing at the front door.  She turns and sees Holly going for the ladder to the fire escape.  Valerie runs across the roof and grabs Holly by the hair.  "You couldn't just be happy with Paul, could you?  You had to have them both, didn't you?  You stupid whore."  Valerie pulls Holly away from the ladder and throws her across the roof.  Holly stumbles and falls to the roof again.

Valerie walks toward Holly as Holly is trying to get up.  Holly crawls toward the opposite end of the roof and pulls herself to her feet using the brick ledge.  Holly sees Paul at the front door as she looks over the ledge.  Valerie runs over to Holly and pulls her away from the roof.  Holly screams.  Paul looks up from the front stoop and sees Valerie looking over the edge.  Valerie yells down to him, "Quick, Paul.  Call the police.  Holly's trying to kill me.  She has a knife."

Holly runs over to the ledge and Paul watches the two struggle.  They disappear from the ledge of the roof and Paul calls to Holly.  On the roof, Holly and Valerie are standing and staring at one another.  "It's over, Valerie.  It's over.  I'm sure Paul is calling the police right now and there's no way out for you."

Valerie tries to run by Holly, but Holly blocks her and pushes her back.  "No, Valerie.  You're not going anywhere except to jail.  And then everyone is going to know what kind of psychotic bitch you really are."  Valerie looks at Holly in anger and then charges her, knocking them both down.  Holly gets up and turns, with her back facing the ledge of the roof over the street.  Valerie stands up and turns to Holly.  "Don't you ever call me a bitch again."  Valerie charges toward Holly and Holly drops to the ground.  Valerie trips over a pipe sticking out of the roof and when she lands on Holly's back, Holly flips her off--causing Valerie to fly over the roof.

On the street below, Paul watches in horror as Valerie land on the roof of his car, causing all of the windows to blow out of it.  Holly runs to the ledge and looks over to see Valerie's lifeless body on top of Paul's car and Paul looking up at her in shock.
