Fever Rising...Kylie Minogue holds onto the top spot for a second consecutive week with "Can't Get You Out of My Head," depsite tough competition from Rockell's "What U Did 2 Me" at #2 and Ultra Nate's "Ain't Looking for Nothing" at #3...Minogue's album FEVER is debuting #1 worldwide and once I purchase my copy should easily make it among the top 10 albums of the year at my site...i've heard nothing but incredible things about the album thus far and am eager to hear it in its entirety...

chain of hits...steps scores is ninth top 10 with a cover of diana ross' "chain reaction," which moves into the top 10 at #8 this week...steps is currently charting three tunes, all of which are moving up the chart ("wouldn't hurt so bad" is at #21 and "careless whisper (live)" is at #35)...steps is no stranger to the top 50 as they've had numerous chart hits, often charting concurrently...here's a look at how steps has scored on the top 50...

the day the music died...it looks as though madonna will have to settle for three #1 hits from her album music as the two latest charters seem to stall in the top 10: "I deserve it" spent a week at #5 and drops to #9 this week while "Gone" holds #4 a second week and seems to have stopped gaining points..."runaway Lover" hit #6, as did "amazing," but madonna did score three top hits with "music," "don't Tell Me," and "What it feels like for a girl"...GH2 is set for release on November 13 in the us and fans can be disappointed as the compilation doesn't offer any new music at all...somewhat disappointing since two of her best singles "justify my love" and "rescue me" were from her first greatest hits package...

walking on water...backstreet boys are doing incredibly well with the first release from their greatest hits package..."Drowning" offers the typical boy band formula ballad but is one of my fave offerings from the bsb...the song takes airplay/sales hit this week as it moves twelve positions to #22...the song is up for challenging "the call" as the bsb's biggest hit to date, spending a single week at #2...

fluttering up the chart...Minogue is also charting with the spectacular "Butterfly"...regular chart followers will notice that the song is no longer labeled as a remix because I've been enjoying the album version more than the remix as of late...expect this one to shoot up the chart quickly as well as being followed by other tracks from the light years and fever albums...

believing in another smash...cher returns to the top 50 this week with a very interesting electronic dance track called "music is no good without you"...although this song isn't as strong as the singles from believe, the song should easily allow cher to reclaim the top success she saw on the top 50 with songs from her last album...take a lot at how the tracks on believe did...

cher takes debut hit this week and comes in at #37...following cher is the first single from gabrielle's greatest hits package..."Don't Need the sun (to make me smile)" comes in at #40...I've only heard a remix of the song so far but I imagine the album version of the song is just as incredible as gabrielle's other music...I expect big things from this charter...the song debuts at #40 and gabrielle is currently charting at #43 with the recent #1 "over you" and she is moving up the chart again with the four-week #1 from earlier this year "Out of Reach"...

Two other artists return to the top 50 this week...natalie imbruglia was last on the chart with the top 3 hit "Smoke" from her debut album...now she's back at #50 with the first single from her upcoming second album...the song "That Day" is being promoted overseas now...at #49 is an artist not unfamiliar to chart success...Rick Astley saw songs, such as "Never Gonna Give You Up," "Together Forever," "It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man," "Whenever You Need Somebody," "She Wants to dance with Me," and "Cry for Help" climb to the top of the charts...now he's back with a groovy little disco number called "Sleeping"...I can remember when I first heard the PSB's "New York City Boy" I swore it was Rick Astley on the backing vocals...well it wasn't and now he's recording again...check this one out...

we finally got our dsl so be on the look out for lots of chart action and lots of chart debuts in the coming weeks...I haven't, until this week, been able to download much in the way of new music here at home but I'm back in full swing now...
