Dying for a Hit...Madonna takes this week's DEBUT HIT as the title track to the upcoming James Bond Movie "Die Another Day" enters the chart at #33...after what has been months of downloading 'leaked' tracks only to hear such songs as Corinna May's "I Can't Live Without Music" and Haddaway's "What is Love," I finally got a hold of the tune as it was leaked to radio this week...I'm also listening to one of the remixes of the tune as well...good news is, it's already one of the top-added songs to radio and it will be released as a commercial single (could Kelly Clarkson have put new life in the single?)...while her latest hits the chart, a demo track from RAY OF LIGHT, which never made the album, called "Revenge" stalls at #20 and slips to #23 this week--more or less because my attention shifted to "Die..."...

Certainly Not Idle...Kelly Clarkson has another good week on Top 50 as "Before Your Love" jumps to #8 on the chart, "A Moment Like This" edges a notch to #12, and "Without You" takes AIRPLAY HIT and moves to #38...Clarkson will be facing some tough competition in the top 10, though, as it is loaded with strong records...

Out of the Storm...Mariah Carey scores this week's COMBO HIT with "Through the Rain"...the ballad, very reminiscent of her earlier works such as "Love Takes Time" and "Can't Let Go," is also getting plenty of adds on US radio...the song blasts ten places to #31 this week and is certainly one of Carey's fastest charting songs on the Top 50...

A World of #1's...Kylie Minogue is no stranger to the top spot and she continues to rack up the top hits with her upcoming US/UK release "Come Into My World"...since September of 2001, FEVER--Minogue's latest album--has generated hit after hit..."Can't Get You Out of My Head" spent three weeks at #1 in November and then an additional six weeks atop the chart beginning in January 2002..."In Your Eyes" logged seven weeks atop the chart immediately following the six-week second run of CGYOOMH...Minogue hit the top for a single week with "Tightrope," the B-side to the IYE single, but also a bonus track on the Aussie version of the album..."Love at First Sight" logged two weeks atop the chart and the album track "Love Affair" followed with three weeks...now, Minogue is still charting--in the Top 50--"Love at First Sight," "Tighrope," and "Love Affair," as well as he latest #1 "Come Into My World"...I don't expect a long stay at the top for CIMW, but expect it to be on the chart for some time as its popularity in the US grows and more mixes of the tune are released...

Undercover...Following Madonna's "Die Another Day," the top 3 debuts are all cover versions of classic tunes...at #39 is Soluna with a cover of Air Supply's "All Out of Love;" at #41 is a duet of Ronan Keating and Lulu on "We've Got Tonight;" and "Got to Have Your Love" by Liberty X zooms in at #45...

Kelly's Destiny...Kelly Rowland becomes the first of Destiny's Child's three members to show up as a solo artist on the Top 50..."Stole," her first solo single debuts at #50...Rowland failed to make the chart as a featured artist on Nelly's "Dilemma"...Beyonce Knowles also failed to chart with her first solo single "Work It Out"--even a pretty decent Victor Calderone remix of the song couldn't place it on the chart...as R & B records tend not to do well on my chart, Rowland will have a fight to push "Stole" to hit status...the pop mix of the song that I have should help her in her quest but more exposure is definitely what the song needs to make it...
