Chart royalty gives up her reign?...Kristine W's 2000 chart success is unmatched as yet another song falls short of a #1 peak on the chart...in the last month, we have seen three Kristine chart hits stall without reaching the top 3..."Someone (Watching Over Me)" spent two weeks at #9 (and drops off of the chart this week), "Feel What You Want 2001" spent two weeks at #5 (and is at #29 this week), and "Let Love Reign (Remix)" stalled after a week at #7 and drops to #13 this week. "..Reign" receives a special note as it is a previous #1 song that was charting on a completely remixed version. Unless W releases new material in the Fall, it is likely that her current charting hits will be it for the queen of the 2000 year-end charts for 2001. **"River Divides," a recent #1 is currently top 10.

The buzz is all about Da Buzz...Not only does the group hold #1 for a second week with their second top smash "Believe in Love," but they also score a fifth top 10 hit this week as "Out of Words" soars from #11 to #8. DA SOUND, the group's debut album, has now produced five top 10's and a top 20 ("Let Me Love You" #1, "Do You Want Me" #3, "Paradise" #10, "Tell Me Once Again" #18). Next week, Da Buzz could hold the top spot for a third week as it is way ahead of Dolly Parton's "Shine," which holds #2 a second week, and Amber's "Yes (Remix)." However, Da Buzz may be in for a sweet surprise...

Sugar sweet...The Sugababes score a third top 5 hit as "Soul Sound" blasts through the top 10 to land at #5 this week...it was mistakenly reported last week that this was the group's second top 10 hit when they have actually scored three top 10 hits ("Run for Cover" spent two weeks at #4 and "Just Let it Go" spent a single week at #1)..."Soul..." is gaining rapidly and does have the potential to take the lead next week and dethrone Da Buzz at the top of the chart...

Biggest career hit yet???...Rumor has it that Kylie Minogue is expected to score her biggest career hit yet when "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is released on Sept 24 in the UK...The song rockets to #12 this week and takes AIRPLAY HIT...her biggest Top 50 hit is "Your Disco Needs You," which spent a whopping seven weeks atop the chart earlier this year...the advantage this new tune has is that its burn factor is less of a threat to its continued chart success...

Deserving Chart Success...Madonna's "Amazing" holds at #6 this week and doesn't gain any points (it doesn't lose any either) as she scores yet another top 10 hit with "I Deserve It" from the MUSIC album...this is the album's sixth top 10 hit..."Gone" is knocking on the top 10 door and will likely scoot into the top 10 next week from its current #11 position...

Jennifer Lopez moves up to #20 this week to score her fifth top 20 hit ("If You Had My Love" spent four weeks at #8, "Waiting for Tonight" spent two weeks at #3, "Feelin' So Good" spent a week at #19, and "Play" spent two weeks at #8)..."Ain't it Funny" is being promoted in Europe and has the potential to become Lopez's first #1 chart hit on the Top 50...the song is increasing in airplay gains and sales points and could easily shoot into the top 10 next week if her increases continue at this pace...her current US single and #1 "I'm Real" featuring Ja Rule has not and will not chart on the Top 50...she also missed the Top 50 with "Let's Get Loud" and "Love Don't Cost a Thing"...

Looking for her next hit...Ultra Nate can sing that she "Ain't Looking for Nothing" but as the song takes SALES HIT this week and moves ten places to #24 it's obvious she's looking for another hit...New Order's "Crystal" steals COMBO HIT for the second consecutive week and moves eleven to #26...

Rock-hard debuts...Rockell returns to the Top 50 this week with her recent #21 hit "What U Did 2 Me," fueled by a Jonathan Peters remix that is getting play in the video bars in Baltimore...Michael Jackson returns to the Top 50 for the first time since he hit #12 with "Ghosts" with a new tune from his upcoming INVINCEABLE album called "You Rock My World"...no comment on how he looked at the MTV VMA's...N Sync score a second Top 50 from CELEBRITY with "Gone" at #46...Mandy Moore follows her successful #2 hit "In My Pocket" (currently at #21) with "Crush"...while Atomic Kitten is flying high on their version of The Bangles' "Eternal Flame," Rochelle brings the Almighty Remix to the Top 50 at #48 (AK's version could chart over the next few weeks)...Steps makes a bow at #49 with "Wouldn't Hurt So Bad"...

Scream If You Wanna Go Higher...Geri Halliwell seems to have stalled at #24 with the title track to her latest album SCREAM IF YOU WANNA GO FASTER...it slips to #25 this week...Ricky Martin's remixed "Loaded" slides to #17 after a single week at #15...after striking gold with the remix of "Stranger in My House," Tamia's latest "Tell Me Who" doesn't follow suit and drops to #45 after a single week at #39...
