All That Yaz...Alison Moyet, vocalist for the 80's synth pop sensation Yaz and accomplished 'progressive' solo artist, makes a return to the chart this week with the first single from her upcoming album "Should I Feel That It's Over"...Moyet is in top form on this ballad....the song debuts at #42 this week, heading four chart debuts...Michelle Branch, who missed the chart with "Everywhere" and "All I Wanted," makes her debut with her third official single "Goodbye to You"...I've actually been listening to the tune since it was featured on a Fall 2001 episode of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER...check out the acoustic version of the tune too...Branch's performance is hauting and the song enters at #46...following closely, Shakira scores a third Top 50 hit with her third English single "Objection (Tango)"...the song has been just under the Top 50 range for weeks now and finally gets a shot at the chart, entering at #47...finally, the fourth debut is at #48 and comes from Peter Martine..."Perhaps" features none other than porn star-turned-pop star Samantha Fox--on the chart for the first time since the late 80's cover of Dusty Springfield's "I Only Wanna Be With You"...thanks to Mark for putting word out about this pop-dance nugget...

Probably for the first time in the chart's history (I'm guessing here and could very well be completely wrong), the entire top 8 positions of the chart are the same as last week...you have to look all the way down to #13 to find a 'bulleted' tune...the top half of the chart is really going to need a shake-up in the next coming weeks to avoid a stale chart...don't count any of these songs in the top 12 out just yet, though, while the chart is crowded, they are all holding their ground and anyone of them could be the breakout hit that is needed to shuffle the deck...

Dannii Minogue continues to assault the chart, making another ten-place move to #30 with the funky "Put the Needle on It"...the song is also this week's AIRPLAY/SALES HIT...taking COMBO HIT is the album track from the Sugababes' debut album ONE TOUCH called "One Foot In"...the song rockets ten places to #28 in the same week that their album ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES is released in the UK...the second single from their current album can be found at #7 ("Round Round")...

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend...we are getting some much needed rain so it's been a great weekend for sleeping and napping and just lounging around....
