Letting Go...Kylie Minogue's "Love Affair" slips to #2 and releases its grasp on the top spot as Kristine W's "Letting Go" slides into the top spot in its second chart week...this marks the second time Kristine W has moved into the #1 spot in only two weeks on the Top 50..."River Divides" debuted at #6 in 2001 and moved into the top spot the following week..."Letting Go" should easily snag at least a second week atop the chart but will have to hold off the likes of Minogue, Cyndi Lauper, Natalie Imbruglia, Jennifer Paige, Cher, and the Sugababes...

Sugary Sweet...the Sugababes score yet another top 10 hit as "Round Round," the second single from their upcoming ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES, moves from #19 to #10...the song also scores this week's AIRPLAY HIT and is set to debut at #1 next week on the UK charts ("Freak Like Me" also debuted at #1 in the UK and spent three weeks at #1 on the Top 50)...the Babes have scored three prior #1 hits and two top 10 hits, as well as the underrated top 30 "Overload"...

Three for Three and Add Another...As third-place winner of POP IDOL in the UK, Darius is the third of the contestants to hit #1 in the UK...he debuts that hit, "Colourblind," at #44 this week...while the fourth member of the POP IDOL team makes his debut, the first three charting members assault the top 20 of the chart...Will Young moves up to #20 with "Evergreen," the first of his two UK #1 hits...the song is also this week's SALES HIT...moving up to #14 is the second UK #1 hit for Gareth Gates--"Anyone of US (Stupid Mistake)"...finally, Rik Waller, the one member who has charted her who has yet to have a UK #1 (proving how superficial the music industry is), is up to #12 with his spectacular rendition of Vanessa Armstrong's "Something Inside So Strong"...

Somebody's Knocking...Prezioso's European dance smash "Somebody," featuring Marvin, soars up eleven positions this week to #19...the song takes this week's COMBO HIT award and is the first in a group of Italodance tunes to chart on the Top 50 (Superstar's "Forever (La La Land)" moves up to #32 this week)...

Madonna and Kylie working Alone...as her next scheduled single, "Come Into My World," is due out at the end of October or beginning of November, Kylie Minogue is already charting with it here and moves up to #13...more exciting news is that the single release will actually be a double A-sided single featuring a non-album track called "Alone Again"--penned by none other than the Material Girl herself...in other Kylie news, I failed to note that two tunes listed on the upcoming tunes list last week are not officially by Kylie...rumour has it that "True Love Never Dies," billed to Rank vs Kylie Minogue, is actually a computer generated Kylie sound-a-like..."Hi NRG Boy," which is supposedly featured in Moulin Rouge but isn't on any of the movie's credits, has been billed as Kylie on downloads but supposedly is not her...anyone having any information about either of these recordings--please email me so I can let other interested parties know!!! "Hi NRG Boy" is from the late 80's while "True Love Never Dies" was released as a single earlier this year in the UK by Flip n Fill and featured Kelly Llorenna on vocals (the version by Rank... is most definitely NOT Kelly Llorenna as I did chart that version at #4 a few months back)...

Return of another Big Voice...after barely charting in 2000 with "Planet Love" (#39), Taylor Dayne returns to the Top 50 this week with "How Many," a great new single that is more like Dayne's mid-to-late-90's tunes ("I'll Wait," for example)...Taylor Dayne was a staple on the chart in the late 80's and early 90's with such pop/dance nuggets as "Tell it To My Heart," "Prove You Love," and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love," as well as the soulful ballads "Love Will Lead You Back" and "I"ll Always Love You"...Dayne's most recent successes have been on the Dance charts with tunes like "Naked Without You"...

Singles Only Please...Sophie Ellis Bextor released her album READ MY LIPS in the UK, followed by the non-album track "Get Over You," which became her first #1 hit on the Top 50...now, a second non-album tune makes it to a single pressing in the UK and to the Top 50...the terrific 'Music Gets the Best of Me" debuts at #42 and is yet another pop gem from our favorite Brit pop sophisticate...Dirty Vegas scores a Top 50 hit with the very likable and trancey "Ghosts" at #47...

Other news....Atomic Kitten moves up to #21 with "The Tide is High" while news has it that they will record a Kylie-penned tune called "Feels So Good"--and even name their second album after the tune...I'll report more about the release of the tune when I know more...I will assume it will be the third single from the upcoming album...
