What a week!!! With my discovery of audiogalaxy.com, I've been able to track down a lot of new music--and some new-old stuff. This week's chart shows that as the highest debut record of #22 ("Your Disco Needs You") is broken not once, but three times.

Making an entrance at #15 is the long-awaited follow-up to 2000's #2 smash hit "If It Don't Fit" by Abigail. Her latest, available now on promo only, is called "You Set Me Free." If I'm not mistaken, this is the first of Abigail's singles that she co-wrote. Abigail's chart history dates back to the mid 90's when she made her mark with dance covers of such tunes as "Twist in My Sobriety," "Losing My Religion," "Smells Like Teen Spirit," and most notably "Constant Cravin'." She scored in 2000 with the #6 smash "Let the Joy Rise" and again with "...Fit," a four-week #2 hit.

Making a splash at #12 is a returning charter. After stalling at a mere #42 for two weeks earlier this year, M People's front-woman makes herself "Proud" with a solo effort from the QUEER AS FOLK soundtrack. My interest in this pop gem was renewed thanks to countless drag performances over Baltimore's pride weekend. Having deleted the downloaded file from my computer after it stalled at #42, I was able to retrieve the file and burn it to disc last week. The song was certainly overlooked during its last chart run and is deserving of this high debut.

Shattering both of these new records for the top chart debut is Kristine W. Finally receiving my copy of the Japanese import of STRONGER, featuring two new tracks, "River Divides," which I've loved since I first heard it three months ago on Kristine's website, finally gets to enter the chart. Until I was able to listen to this tune so much, "Let Love Reign" was my fave track from the album, however, this almost-gospel tune is definitely ahead of the pack and is more characteristic of the music on Kristine's LAND OF THE LIVING album. I expect that a debut at #6 should easily secure Kristine to the #1 spot next week. Ironically, another of this week's debut is a circuit mix of "Let Love Reign," which returns to the chart at #44.

The Sugababes hit #1 for the first time with "Just Let it Go." The tune just inches "Out of Reach," which had the potential to scoot back into #1 since I finally obtained the remix. However, the song is just edged out by the Sugababes, although their stay at #1 will likely be short.

"I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack also gets a lift from a remix. I finally obtained one of the mixes of the song and it gives it a push to #3 as well as regaining its bullet this week. With "River Divides" bowing at #6, it's going to be tough for this one to make it through the top 3.

Melissa Etheridge's "I Want to Be in Love" and Hypnogaja's "So Sweet" inch a notch each to #4 and #5, respectively, but without bullets. With the likelihood of the top 10 becoming very crowded in the next few weeks, these songs will likely suffer. However, I would expect them to hold onto their high chart positions even if they lack the point gains to move forward.

Love Inc. gets its second top 10 hit as "Broken Bones" moves three to #8. N Sync makes a third top 10 appearance with "Pop," while their boy band predecessors Backstreet Boys lost their umpf! at #13 with "More Than That."

Not just stealing, but STEALING the COMBO HIT this week is Mandy Moore's second Top 50 hit. "In My Pocket" is like nothing any of the other teen pop princesses are releasing and being so, it makes a spectacular move from its debut last week at #46 to #28. I expect this song to be a strong contender for the pole position in the next couple of weeks. If Moore's album has material of this quality on it, I may even buy it!

"Running" up the chart is the latest 2001 version of an Information Society song. Moving from #44 o #29, "Running 2001" is quickly and easily catching up to "What's on Your Mind 2001," which moves a weak #22 to #20 this week. The Victor Calderone remix of "Running" is far superior to the mixes of "...Mind..."

Also making big moves on this weeks chart: Kristine W is having a banner week as "Someone (Watching Over Me)" makes a eleven place move to #23. Robbie Williams' "Let Love Be Your Energy" moves ten places to #22. Janet's second single from ALL FOR YOU called "Someone to Call My Lover" moves eleven to #32. Atomic Kitten's international hit "Whole Again" makes a move from #48 to #38.

Also making a debut this week is "Over You" by Gabrielle. Currently, the song is charting on its original version, however, it should get some fuel from the remix in the next couple of weeks. The song debuts on the Top 50 at #40. Gabrielle's latest album RISE has been remixed and released in the UK. The album features remixes of "Rise," "Should I Stay," "When a Woman," "Sunshine," and "Over You."

Well that's the chart for the week...next week's chart should be just as fun as the bottom six songs on the Top 50 are ready to fall off the chart to allow for new chart entries...until then...
