As expected, Sandy B. takes over the chart with a great dance tune called "Nothingness." It is most likely that the song will hold the top of the chart for at least another week as it's nearest competitor will likely be the Sugababes' third Top 50 hit "Just Let it Go," which takes COMBO HIT for a second consecutive week and jumps into the top 10 from #21 to #9. Hypnogaja's "So Sweet" also moves into the top 10 and is a potential contender for #1 in the next couple of weeks as well.

To make room for the two new entries into the top 10, a few records take a dive after peaking last week. "Out of Nowhere" by Gloria Estefan slips to #10 after a week at #7. Melanie C's recharting of "I Turn to You" dips to #11 after hitting #8 last week. The biggest drop belongs to French Affair's "My Heart Goes Boom" which nosedives to #12 after two weeks at #3.

Leann Womack dances up the chart to #5 this week with "I Hope You Dance." I expected to hear the dance mix by now, but haven't. I would expect the song to surge to the top with the dance mix, but because I haven't heard it yet, it will be facing tough competition from the Sugababes, Hypnogaja, and Melissa Etheridge, who jumps four to #6 with "I Want to Be in Love." In its eighteenth chart week, Malina's "By Your Side" moves back up to #4. The song spent three weeks at #3 earlier and then dipped to #17 before rebounding into the top 10.

Love Inc.'s second Top 50 hit, "Broken Bones," scores AIRPLAY/SALES HIT this week as it rockets another twelve notches to #21. The group scored a top 3 hit with "You're a Superstar" in early 2000. The song should easily plow through a crowded top 20 next week as it appears to be much stronger than currently charting records by Maria Rubia, Deborah Gibson, Backstreet Boys, Da Buzz, Sarina Paris, and N Sync.

Kristine W returns to the Top 50 this week--not once, but twice. She has the week's top debut with "Someone (Watching Over Me)" from her STRONGER album. The song bows at #44 and is her sixth Top 50 from the album. At #48, a song that she cowrote enters the chart as CeCe Pennsiton's fourth Top 50. "Lifetime to Love" peaked at #2 on the Billboard Club Play charts about a month or so ago. Also making an entry is ATC. After missing the Top 50 with their second single "My Heart Beats Like a Drum," they enter at #46 with "Why Oh Why." They hit #10 with "Around the World" earlier in the year.

Only twenty-four records are bulleted this week as the lack of new music really starts to affect the chart. There are fifteen records that have been on the chart at least twelve weeks. I'm interested to see how this lull of new music will affect the outcome of the chart each week as songs by artists such as Leann Rimes, Dream, Amanda Ghost, and Kylie Minogue will easily snag additional weeks on the chart without a decent amount of debuts.
