After an amazing seven week run at #1, Kylie Minogue's reign at the top of the chart ends this week as "Your Disco Needs You" slips to #4. Replacing Minogue at #1 is another artist with superstar status in the UK and Europe. Gabrielle scores her third #1 hit with "Out of Reach," from the BRIDGET JONES' DIARY soundtrack. The song easily moves into the top position from #6 this week, leaping over the five records that Minogue has so easily held from the top spot. "Out of Reach" should easily hold onto the #1 position for at least another week as the two nearest competitors are at #8 and #10.

Madonna and Malina hold the #2 and #3 spots, respectively, for a third week. The songs, although seemingly not destined to hit the top of the chart, seem to follow one another on the chart. The tunes both debuted eleven chart weeks ago and have stayed pretty much neck in neck throughout their chart run.

Britney Spears is pushed down to #5 after two weeks at #4 with "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know (Remix)." The song was the first record ever to take the COMBO HIT for three weeks and now its chances for #1 have been all but nixed by this small drop. The song hurts because I only have the remix burned to one cd and most the other songs in the top 10 are on multiple cd's, therefore getting more airplay.

Fragma scores its biggest chart hit as "You Are Alive" moves up to #8, besting the #10 peak of their last hit "Everytime You Need Me." The Sugababes score their first top 10 hit this week as "Run for Cover" scoots two positions to #9. At #10 is the second top 10 hit from BUZZ, Steps' latest album. Following "It's the Way You Make Me Feel," the group's latest hit "You'll Be Sorry" moves into the top 10 at #10. The song follows other top 10 hits including "One for Sorrow," "Tragedy," "Deeper Shade of Blue," "Better the Devil You Know," "Love's Got a Hold on My Heart," "Stay with Me," and the aforementioned "It's the Way You Make Me Feel." Steps has scored two #1 hits, one in 1999 and the other last year.

French Affair seems to be holding on with "My Heart Goes Boom." This catchy little number may even sneak into the top 10 over the next couple of weeks. The song moves up to #12 this week. Janet's "All For You" regains its momentum and turns around to #16 this week. The song peaked at #9 two weeks ago, but could head back up the chart toward the top 10 again.

Jennifer Lopez is getting her wish: I'm playing her 'mother fucking song'..."Play" takes both AIRPLAY and SALES HIT status this week as it bolts nine places to #21. This is Jennifer's fastest charting hit since her debut "If You Had My Love" in 1999. She has scored two top 10 hits ("If You.." #8/4wks and "Waiting for Tonight" #3/1wk) and a top 20 ("Feelin' So Good" #19/2wks).

Geri Halliwell is on her way to scoring her fourth top 20 hit with her cover of the classic disco tune "It's Raining Men." The song takes COMBO HIT this week and rockets ten places to #22. She has scored one top 10 hit, two top 20 hits and a top 40 hit.

Another Spice Girl returns to the chart this week. Melanie C aka Sporty Spice returns with her second Top 50 hit, "I Turn to You." The song is finally getting radio airplay in the US and that alone has renewed my interest in the song. It originally spent four weeks at #4 in 2000 and spent a total of fifteen weeks on the chart. Mel C returns to the chart at #44

Da Buzz scores a fourth Top 50 hit, following the #1 "Let Me Love You," the #3 "Do You Want Me," and the #10 "Paradise." The group's album DA SOUND is due on May 22 and "Tell Me Once Again" comes into the chart at #45. Another Da Buzz song is getting some play right now--"Believe in Love" could chart in the next few weeks as well.

Gloria Estefan returns to the Top 50 after a long absence. Her last Top 50 hit was in 1999 with the #21 hit "Don't Let This Moment End." The song was the follow-up to the #1 smash "Heaven's What I Feel." "Out of Nowhere" is a great dance number with a fantastic remix. Any house fan should definitely check this one out!! The song comes in at #47.

Bananarama scores a second Top 50 from EXOTICA as "Venus 2001" debuts at #48. Having heard most of the remixes of old tracks on EXOTICA but very little of the new recordings on the album, I don't think I'm going to make a purchase anytime soon. The album is currently only available in France. "Careless Whisper" (#34 this week) hit #5 a few weeks ago. The album contains new mixes of other hits including "Robert DeNiro's Waiting" (not the same mix that hit #11 on my chart last year), "I Heard a Rumour," and "Cruel Summer" (which includes new lyrics as well).

Backstreet Boys return to the Top 50 following their most successful hit "The Call" (#2). "More Than That" is the third Top 50 from the BLACK AND BLUE album. Their lastest "More Than That" comes in at #50 this week.
