Can't Get you out of my head: Kylie minogue |

COMMENTARY ON THIS WEEK'S TOP 50:
So the chart has a new look this week--I've separated the title and the artist. Please let me know if you like the other format or this new one better (I think I like the other one, but maybe it's just because it's different).
MTV, VH1, VIDEO BARS, NIGHT CLUBS...Even if you could get it out of your head, you wouldn't be able to avoid the Kylie mania that is sweeping the US...The song is pretty much surfacing everywhere I go and I was even pleased last night to see it crowd the dancefloor at a straight club. Anyway, "Can't Get You Out of My Head" holds onto the top spot for a sixth week (third week in this run) and doesn't look to be ready to give up the throne anytime soon...the song is one week away from tying "Your Disco Needs You" as Kylie's longest-running #1 hit and two weeks away from tying Aubrey's "Stand Still" as the longest running #1 ever!! And while Kylie holds the top spot, she scores a second top 10 from FEVER..."In Your Eyes" rockets to #9 this week and is probably the closest threat to overrun the pole position...Minogue will face some fierce competition in the coming weeks though and it's going to be MURDER...
I Know, I Know, I Know...that this song is surely going to #1...Sophie Ellis-Bexter hurls "Murder on the Dancefloor" to #12 in its second chart week and will likely be Minogue's stiffest competition for the top spot...Another dancefloor packer thanks to the cd I burned for my DJ friend at the straight club, this one is a classic disco tune with great pop lyrics...if you haven't checked it out, I suggest you get a copy of it now...this one is sure to be one of the biggest dance hits of the still very young 2002 year..."Murder..." is this week's COMBO HIT...
Touch the Sky..."I'm Not Alone Anymore" by Sky Tyler rockets ten positions to #10 this week...it is the artist's first Top 50 hit and she has managed to make the top 10 in just four weeks--a pretty impressive feat for a new artist...the song steals this week's AIRPLAY HIT... Not too far down the chart is this week's SALES HIT, Cher's "(This is) A Song for the Lonely," which moves up nine positions to #17 and becomes the second top 20 single from LIVING PROOF, Cher's latest album due for US release on March 5..
Good to Go-Go...Belinda Carlisle scores another solo Top 50 as she wins DEBUT HIT with "A Prayer for Everyone"...Carlisle last hit the chart in 2001 with the GoGo's on "Unforgiven" and "Apology"...she scored a #3 smash with "All God's Children" in 2000...also making a showing on the chart this week is Leann Rimes' latest "Soon (Remix)" at #44, Lonnie Gordon's return to the chart with "A God That Can Dance" at #45, and The Corrs' second Top 50 hit at #49 called "Irresistible"...
Two years later...Brandy finally returns to the Top 50 this week with her latest single "What About Us"...the song makes its debut at #48...Brandy did incredibly well on the Top 50 with her singles from NEVER SAY NEVER--including two #1 hits "The Boy is Mine" and "Have You Ever," as well as a #4 smash with "Almost Doesn't Count"..."Almost..." was the last of Brandy's Top 50 success and she hasn't been on the chart since 1999...
